President Obama finally acted on something fast. Obama’s OMB exempted congressional staffers from ObamaCare after many complained that they would quit. Was the congressional brain drain a real threat? Is it fair that President Obama exempted congressional staffers, but not America from this expensive, unworkable health care law? Hear what Trifecta thinks.

“Despite finger-pointing news conferences and radio addresses by both parties on Capitol Hill, Congress let interest rates double last week on federally subsidized student loans. Eleven days earlier, a coalition of Democrats and conservative Republicans in the House scuttled the latest attempt at a farm bill, dooming for now disaster assistance for livestock producers still affected by last year’s drought.”*
Congress has returned with important legislation on the table, including an immigration bill. Will they make any meaningful change? Very doubtful. This obstructionist Republican congress has passed a record-breaking low numbers of bills; will Democrats wise up to the fact that the “American Taliban” is going out of their way to block? Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

November 15, 2015 at 11:04 AMAsk yourself this question. Dozens of countries have subsidized healthcare, why is the United States the only one who punishes people and has an enforcement arm?

November 15, 2015 at 11:37 AMEverything is rationed by the size of your wallet, Mr Irrational. Thanks to this legislation I will lose my doctor and my old plan, both of which I was promised I could keep. My new health plan will cost more than twice as much for inferior coverage, bigger co pays and a much higher deductable. Since my costs are going through the roof, I will have to ration my health care dollars. And you have the audacity to call other people morons?

November 15, 2015 at 12:28 PMMedicaid is available for those without health insurance. We also have a state plan available for those without heath insurance. That happened to us about 8 or 9 years ago. Surgery was done and covered by the state at no cost to us. I know things vary from state to state and if there are some holes. I have no problem expanding Medicaid.

November 15, 2015 at 1:20 PMIt's way to late for that. I don't know what the country is going to do. We will reach a point soon where 3 workers are going to pay the way of one retiree. That is unsustainable. There is no excuse at all why the government allowed this to happen. But as I said many times in the past. "Once government can prove they can do just one thing properly and at the least cost, then I MAY trust then to take a second challenge." Until then,"Take a hike,"

November 15, 2015 at 1:38 PMMy Aunt almost died because nobody would accept what Medicare paid. And Medicare tried to tell her to just take pain pills. She was ready to let it go and pass quietly into the night. But the family would not let her give up without a fight. She had to have family and charity help in order to have a life saving operation. And she is alive today.

November 15, 2015 at 4:22 PMI have heard Canada more equated with England and neither of them have the sheer numbers of people from all over the world that we do when excellent health options are needed. We even teach and train more doctors and technicians than anyone else.
Being cited by someone for something means nothing. The proof is in the numbers.

November 15, 2015 at 5:24 PMObamacare is terrible because the burden on businesses, government, and citizens is too high. Even Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer made a statement to the effect that Obamacare is reason why insurance costs might go “through the roof.” There's a reason it's being dubbed the Unaffordable Care Act. There is no exaggeration about its cost.

November 15, 2015 at 8:23 PMDon't know anything about that other stuff but I do know that Canadians come here for medical treatments for differing reasons. They could not tolerate waiting times or medical options were limited. Extreme pain, or possible death forced them to look for other options. Another complaint was that certain treatments were not allowed. The choices were taken out of their hands until they came here.

November 15, 2015 at 9:03 PMOptions do not require risk. Is it a risk when you put money in the bank. Even that would give you a better return for your money than SS.
Is a a risk to own gold or silver. That always holds or increases value as time goes by. A bank paying zero interest on the same amount of money you put into SS over your lifetime would still leave you with more than you get from SS. You would have to live well into your hundreds to get reasonable value from SS.

November 16, 2015 at 1:06 AMHow about unneeded regulations? Just answer this one question, why can't the FDA work as a certification group, meaning that it hasn't been approved by the FDA, but people can still take it at their own risk?
Jammer8x8 says
November 16, 2015 at 1:51 AMGeorge McGovern? Oh right the regulations weren't the sole reason for his failure.
Also, Principal at Silicon Associates. who also closed their business because of regulations.
Because you think all regulations are for the public good.
Yes, the market may crash, but the govt has their back. It seems you get the best of both worlds here, cause banks are can be free or regulated markets when its convenient for u.
Do you honestly think people are interested in the public good before own good?
Itsme4746 says
November 16, 2015 at 2:48 AMYou want to know why i believe this. Because not once did REGULATION OF A BUSINESS run the business into the ground. And your genius examples include someone saying regulation is bad and a guy being punished for NOT FOLLOWING REGULATIONS. When have i ever let on that i follow gov intentions?
the money that banks gamble with is not theirs, it is their clients. It is a conscious decision of their clients to create bank accounts with them. The risk is a market crash, did i lose you? Aries merritt
Itsme4746 says
November 16, 2015 at 2:54 AMgov inefficiency, ever think of that?
dude just stop this i mean you have been taking me out of context for a while. I was defending regs of business there is a huge difference. I can still defend this, and the only answer i have is gov inefficiency. And the gov CAN, but often won't, take better care of you, because without them there would be no labels on foods, but you ignore it.
it's different, because cigs don't claim to help or be healthy for you. Once again i'm against the war on drugs.
Jammer8x8 says
November 16, 2015 at 2:55 AMYou want to know why I said this. Because not once did you ever consider the possibility that government could use their power for ill. You are endlessly dismissive of the fact that businesses often use regulations to edge smaller competition out. You blindly follow govt intentions
Okay lets focus, lets really try, the banking industry is not a free market. It is heavily regulated. You cannot have a free market without risk. Do you understand this, please, just try to get over this one hurdle.
Jammer8x8 says
November 16, 2015 at 3:50 AMAlso, what if the ARE dying, ever think about that? Its their body, its their life
Why can't they have the option of saying "yes we realize that the FDA hasn't approved this, but it may be our only shot". Why do you think the gov't can take better care of you then you can?
How is the government prohibition harmful substances in my orange juice, different from them prohibiting harmful substances in a cigarette?
Itsme4746 says
November 16, 2015 at 4:48 AMTo know if it's safe or not, like what if they're not dying ever think about that? Forget europe and if a new medicine was created to combat hiv, not aids, and the gov let it pass. 35% people who take it get liver damage as a result and by your logic that's fine.
Yeah i guess you could say that, but that is an irrational regulation. It is false that pot could do anything bad, and for other drugs, they don't pretend to help you so i am against this, BUT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT BUSINESS REGULATION.
Itsme4746 says
November 16, 2015 at 5:36 AMOMFG when did i say that? I mean really stop this nonsense, if you have no argument can you stop responding. "This is why we need to be more concern with the government then business." Really so you want the exact opposite of what you pretend that i want. SO business shouldn't be punished for it, only politicians should.
How many fucking times should i tell you that people still make accounts with them, knowing they will gamble with the money and hurt the economy. thats the free market decision.
Jammer8x8 says
November 16, 2015 at 5:38 AMForget Europe, why does a dying person need permission from the government to take medicine? They're dying What do they care about side effects.
And(it is sad that I need to point this out) by prohibiting the drugs use, you are regulating it. Do you think the pot ban is not a regulation?
Jammer8x8 says
November 16, 2015 at 6:32 AM-So the bank are the bad guy for buying politicians, but politicians are not the bad guys for being bought? This is why we need to be more concern with the government then business. Because they can make bad things legal.
How can you have a free market decision when personal risk is not a factor. Why should they care if the banks gamble, the govt got their backs.
Itsme4746 says
November 16, 2015 at 6:56 AMWell that's just capitalism, when the drive is always money, of course businesses will buy politicians to make even more.
Well yeah, but to an extent, there are still free market decisions made when people create bank accounts with banks that gamble with their money. Obviously i think banks shouldn't be bailed out, if you can help them fine, but don't take away all their problems.
Exactly, but that's not gov regulation, that's a free check. Gov reg would be insurance or a loan in that situation.
Itsme4746 says
November 16, 2015 at 7:27 AMno gov inefficiency, besides don't pretend like europe didn't have to test BB. It's pure gov inefficiency for not taking europe's data.
Jammer8x8 says
November 16, 2015 at 7:54 AMMaybe if the politicans didn't have the power to bail them out, banks wouldn't buy them.
So you agree that the banking industry is regulated and therefore not an example of a free market?
The bank do it because they can. If you went to a casino knowing that the government would bail you out if you went broke, would you be thrifty with your cash or go hogwild?
