The Prostituting of the Government – A Look at Elliot Spitzer

It is amazing sometimes the utter hypocrisy in government. As an example let me use the former Attorney General of New York, Mr. Elliot Spitzer, who was to be the savior of corporate corruption. He build his political career promising to take a bite out of corporate crime and return faith to the markets and protect the consumer, unfortunately, we learn now that he himself was not so full of integrity.

While running for Governor of New York, Elliot Spitzer used the state police to find something embarrassing on his opponent, and as the Attorney General getting that done, was about as easy as picking up the phone. It worked and his political opponent was smeared in the newspapers just prior to the election. Well, sure this happens all the time in New York style politics, actually it happens in all states, cities and towns. Politics is an ugly business indeed.

Today, at the barber shop someone asked what’s the difference between Elliot Spitzer and Richard Nixon? He answered and said; Well, Richard Nixon was an honorable man. Compared to Elliot Spitzer, I would have to agree, as that is my opinion of the whole thing after learning that Elliot Spitzer as governor of New York is involved in a prostitution ring, involving over 50 top prostitutes who get between $ 1,000 and $ 4,500 per hour in some of the largest cities in the World.

Perhaps, this is the arrogance of power or ego gone bad, yet, one has to ask, if this gentleman’s political rhetoric is all a lie, everything he stands for, nothing more than hypocrisy. It is a sad day for America, a very sad day. Elliot Spitzer has apologized for his involvement, but I say to that; apology not accepted, it is time to go to prison Elliot, and it could not have happened to a better man.
