People bitch about the FCC, the PC police, social media activists etc. etc.
I'd like to point out that comics like George Carlin and Lenny Bruce were arrested for simply saying words like "Fuck". I might roll my eyes at people who want to censor Maher and comedians like him, but police aren't dragging him off the stage every other night.

That is only done by radical US militaries, it doesn't represent the US military philosophy as a whole. Bill Maher needs to check his privilege, because unlike the US military, his incursions of other countries isn't scrutinized so heavily by the media.

And since I love him so much, and since the racial slur was used in a joke, I'm going to give him a pass for speaking that racial slur out loud in his monologue. Didn't hear a racial slur you say? 2:28 in, he says redneck. Is redneck a racial slur? Of course it is, while people of the politically correct persuasion would disagree. But its never used as a term or endearment, nor a compliment, nor as a way to flatter. And its only used against one race and ethnicity. Pretty much the identical qualities for other slurs. But I repeat, and I in all sincerity, with no sarcasm do I mean it. I LOVE THIS GUY!!!

But for people to think they should have a right to say whatever they want to say and we don't have a right to criticize them for saying it, is flat out nonsense. Your first amendment rights do not give you immunity from criticism. Your first amendment rights do not give you the right to violate our first amendment rights.
What these anti-political correctness people are asking for, is totalitarianism. They want the freedom to say whatever the fuck they want to say, and we just have to deal with it. And that's not how things should be in this country.
